Supplementary cover for your excess
Kaskó Vernd supplements the vehicle insurance you hold with your insurer; it does not replace it.
Up to ISK 146,500
The excess for vehicle damage ranges from ISK 130,000 to 170,000. Kaskó Vernd reimburses some or all of it, up to ISK 146,500 for a single claim.
Rental cars abroad
Cover also applies to the excess on cars hired through recognised, legally operating rental companies abroad, subject to the limitations below.
12 months of cover
The policy runs for one year and renews automatically each year. Only one claim can be made per insurance period.
How does it work?
Applying for cover is simple, and claiming is even simpler. Provided your insurer covers the damage, your excess is reimbursed under the terms of Kaskó Vernd.

Claim through your insurer
Following covered damage, claim through your existing insurer, who will charge the applicable excess.
- 2.
Send the claim settlement to TMÍ
Once your insurer has completed your claim, report it to TMÍ and send a copy of the claim settlement.

Receive reimbursement
Kaskó Vernd reimburses your excess, up to ISK 146,500, under the policy terms.

More about the insurance
The insurance reduces or fully reimburses the excess the vehicle owner must pay on a comprehensive insurance claim, up to the insured amount.
What is covered?
- Break-ins and theft.
- Damage caused by sudden external events.
- Fire.
- Other unforeseen events covered by the general insurance policy.
Key limitations
The insurance does not apply in every situation, including damage caused by gross negligence, intoxication or unlawful conduct.
Only one claim can be made per insurance period.
